First documented mention
The traditional pub Grauer Wolf (Grey Wolf) was founded in 1757 by Johann Michael Farian in the southern Stadtmauerstr. 4. The name probably goes back to the former landlord Georg Wolf.
We are hosts with heart and soul and this now already in the 2nd generation. At the Altstadthotel Grauer Wolf we are open by tradition. Quality, environmental awareness and cordiality are our top priorities. This applies to the personal contact with our guests as well as to the cooperation with our employees and suppliers. We are happy to show our guests something of Franconian culture and to give them something to take with them on their way. With us you are a guest with friends.
The hotel was first mentioned in a document in 1733 and was already called Grauer Wolf (Grey Wolf) at that time. It is not entirely clear where the name comes from, but it is rumoured that an old wolf once looked in at one of the windows at night and thus gave the inn its name. The Langhammer family has owned the former inn since 1982, and over time, modernisation, renovation and acquisitions have added another 25 rooms to the 15 rooms it once had. With the new building in 2017, the hotel now has a proud 40 rooms for its guests.
