The Altstadthotel Grauer Wolf consists of a total of three buildings, in which 42 hotel rooms are available. The hotel also has 2 conference rooms, a breakfast area and a restaurant. The unfortunately somewhat limited hotel car park can also be accessed via Engelstraße and Kirchenstraße. From there, there is a direct connection to the reception. Take a look at our site plan in advance.
The first documented mention of the current hotel dates back to 1733, when it was already known as the Grey Wolf. The origin of the name is not entirely clear, but it is rumoured that an old wolf once peered through one of the windows at night and gave the inn its name. The Langhammer family has owned the former inn since 1982, adding a further 25 rooms to the then 15 rooms over the course of time through modernisation, renovations and acquisitions. With the new building in 2017, the hotel now offers its guests a proud 42 rooms.
1733
The traditional pub Grauer Wolf was founded in 1757 by Johann Michael Farian in the southern Stadtmauerstr.4. The name probably goes back to the former landlord Georg Wolf.
1829
The Grey Wolf first appeared in the history books in 1829 with the ‘Zum goldenen Fäßlein’ beer pub, which had been located at Hauptstraße 80 since the mid-18th century.
1989
In 1989, the building was extensively renovated and the restaurant was opened under a new name, Kaleidoskop, with upscale cuisine.
